Powered by the People

It is because of these altruistic people, that I can allow EVERYONE to listen to and download my entire musical catalogue, so I can get on with new projects. And in reality, anything over and above the maintenance costs of the site, go directly towards those new projects...whether that be collaborations, studio time, keeping the Van on the road, and touring and accommodation costs. It is an expensive past-time - making music. So "From Me To You" Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! And for those who cannot afford to donate...please SHARE the website link...and the music...and feel free to leave a comment or contact me anytime.

Keeping the Website Going

With the launch of a new album and the unusual format of allowing all music to be downloaded freely, I have found great support, with an average of 1000 unique visitors per week. This is based purely on Word of Mouth with referrals mostly from Facebook. So that's a good sign to me, that the site was something you were all interested in seeking out.

I am glad that I persisted in this mission to bring you my entire body of work...and trust your good intentions. Please continue to enjoy the music, the pictures, and stories while it is still free. And I will continue to upload more content, in between musical projects and live concert commitments. You can also find me on Twitter  https://twitter.com/LouisTheTillett and Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/louistillett/.
Warmest regards. Louis Tillett
PS. Feel free to leave comments here or on the Contact page. I'd love to hear from you.

Downloads

MUSIC DOWNLOADS ARE WORKING!!

As you will see on the Home Page...there are instructions for Downloading the Music. When the site was launched, there were no issues. But we have found a few people had some issues, while others did not. While we investigate why the Download Arrow, on download files has disappeared for some, please find the alternative option, just as effective, but perhaps more useful to Desktop/Laptop Users, as it requires a Mouse Click Option.

The instructions are as follows..
When you select to Download a track, a window will open and the track will start playing. Every PC/Device is different. If there is no download arrow as shown in the screenshot below, you can still download by right-clicking on it, and choosing Save Audio As.

Please feel free to download as much as you like. I would appreciate some feedback here about what you have downloaded, and your thoughts here. Soon I will have an "Inventory" mechanism in place to monitor what is actually being downloaded. But in any case, I always like to hear from you. Please feel free to leave comments, or to contact me through the contact form. My thanks to Leisa Clements for her patience, and persistence, by finding the above "work-around".

Warmest regards

Louis Tillett

Welcome!

If you are reading this first Journal post, then you are probably one of the very people who supported me in getting the website up and running, through gofundme, or have been asked to become a Test Pilot for the site, or you have been invited as a special guest or maybe you are just one of the first people from Facebook who have heard the news. Regardless of how you have found this page, please do leave a comment and share anything you find interesting or entertaining on Social Media, or by good old "word of mouth". And feel free to give me any feedback about the look, feel, and sound of the site, as candidly as you like.

I have tried to bring as much of my Catalogue and associated content together, in time for the Launch - planned for the end of the second week of September. But I will endeavour to update the site, regularly, with the always inevitable missing credits, and more content, such as original press clippings, photos, music, and other material, as they come to me. My own private collection is substantial, and as yet largely unseen. But so far, what you see here, for instance, in The Vault, are mainly from contributions by you, from Facebook Pages and Groups (where I will continue to correspond from time to time).

I have not yet uploaded the Return To Sender albums, but you can hear songs from them in The Vault, in the 2BOB Interviews. The reason I have held off sharing these 3 albums, is because they were limited editions, and were designed to complement and give context to the Original Studio Recording Albums.

I think that a lot of people have yet to hear all of the Original Albums. And I think it's best to give people time to explore these. And of course, I would like to also draw your attention to To Ride A Dead Pony, which I have been holding on to for just such a special occasion as this launch! I hope you enjoy this Retrospective collection of recordings, representative of my many incarnations, and spanning over 30 years plus. Please refer to the liner notes by John McPharlin to illustrate just why it was created.

In summary:
It has been a long, and arduous road to get here. But I am satisfied that I have everything in one place, and that I have managed to maintain complete ownership over, not only my copyright, but my publishing, and my own image, which basically means, I can give myself permission to do what I want with my own music, and images. And that's more unusual than it sounds. It means, for instance, that should anyone wish to license any songs for soundtracks or other works, they need only come direct to me to arrange anything. And that could be something as simple as having my permission, and getting the spelling of my name right. Since I am the registered publisher with AMCOS, I am required to keep track of where my music is broadcast or reproduced, as much as possible.

Dolly Parton once said "Who would believe that it costs so much to look this cheap?". But I have tried to make the website as professional and easy to use as possible and yet maintain a relaxed, grass-roots "feel" - according to the punk and independent music aesthetic, from which the music was originally born. It has been a costly exercise to give my music to everyone. So I am grateful beyond words, for everyone who has contributed to crowdfunding to cover the initial costs of getting this up and running, and to those who continued to contribute in the early days.

So please explore to heart's content and let me know what you think. This is your site too!

Warmest regards
Louis Tillett
