8/9/2017 8 Comments Welcome! If you are reading this first Journal post, then you are probably one of the very people who supported me in getting the website up and running, through gofundme, or have been asked to become a Test Pilot for the site, or you have been invited as a special guest or maybe you are just one of the first people from Facebook who have heard the news. Regardless of how you have found this page, please do leave a comment and share anything you find interesting or entertaining on Social Media, or by good old "word of mouth". And feel free to give me any feedback about the look, feel, and sound of the site, as candidly as you like.
I have tried to bring as much of my Catalogue and associated content together, in time for the Launch - planned for the end of the second week of September. But I will endeavour to update the site, regularly, with the always inevitable missing credits, and more content, such as original press clippings, photos, music, and other material, as they come to me. My own private collection is substantial, and as yet largely unseen. But so far, what you see here, for instance, in The Vault, are mainly from contributions by you, from Facebook Pages and Groups (where I will continue to correspond from time to time). I have not yet uploaded the Return To Sender albums, but you can hear songs from them in The Vault, in the 2BOB Interviews. The reason I have held off sharing these 3 albums, is because they were limited editions, and were designed to complement and give context to the Original Studio Recording Albums. I think that a lot of people have yet to hear all of the Original Albums. And I think it's best to give people time to explore these. And of course, I would like to also draw your attention to To Ride A Dead Pony, which I have been holding on to for just such a special occasion as this launch! I hope you enjoy this Retrospective collection of recordings, representative of my many incarnations, and spanning over 30 years plus. Please refer to the liner notes by John McPharlin to illustrate just why it was created. In summary: It has been a long, and arduous road to get here. But I am satisfied that I have everything in one place, and that I have managed to maintain complete ownership over, not only my copyright, but my publishing, and my own image, which basically means, I can give myself permission to do what I want with my own music, and images. And that's more unusual than it sounds. It means, for instance, that should anyone wish to license any songs for soundtracks or other works, they need only come direct to me to arrange anything. And that could be something as simple as having my permission, and getting the spelling of my name right. Since I am the registered publisher with AMCOS, I am required to keep track of where my music is broadcast or reproduced, as much as possible. Dolly Parton once said "Who would believe that it costs so much to look this cheap?". But I have tried to make the website as professional and easy to use as possible and yet maintain a relaxed, grass-roots "feel" - according to the punk and independent music aesthetic, from which the music was originally born. It has been a costly exercise to give my music to everyone. So I am grateful beyond words, for everyone who has contributed to crowdfunding to cover the initial costs of getting this up and running, and to those who continued to contribute in the early days. So please explore to heart's content and let me know what you think. This is your site too! Warmest regards Louis Tillett
